Complacency 2 of 5 (One Week In)

I’m thinking once every two weeks is a good frequency for these so I’m going to continue with that. This week I’ll be talking about the second type of complacency I’ve encountered during my journey. It rears its ugly head about a week after the first one.

This feeling of complacency occurs about a week after a fitness journey has been started. During this time, some progress has been made but, most of all, you feel better. Optimism starts to set in and the realization that your goals are attainable is prevalent. While knowing you can attain your goals is awesome, it can sometimes also bring complacency along with it.

This is one of the weaker types of complacency but I still felt it. I had made a little progress and was beginning to optimistic. Like everything, however, too much isn’t always a good thing and feeling that optimistic led me to feeling like I didn’t need to change myself.

Being comfortable in your skin is a great thing, don’t get me wrong, but when you’re in danger of hurting yourself, a change has to be made regardless of how comfortable you are.

That realization is what helped me overcome this second form of complacency. That being said, I’ve also met people who feel the opposite and keep at it harder instead of feeling content with themselves. Either way, if you are feeling it, remember that your health is important and sometimes change is good, especially if that change is being more healthy.
